Utilizing remote speaking tasks for tackling foreign language anxiety

Affective factors, such as anxiety, are located among the obstacles that hinder language learning and can result in learners who resistant to input, especially foreign contexts. Thus, current research effort aimed at examining level of speaking anxiety (English Arabic) Birzeit University (BZU). It also investigating effectiveness using online tasks on lowering students whose attitudes were surveyed towards learning-teaching technique. The adopted a mixed approach obtain data. Both quantitative qualitative methods data collection utilized. Quantitatively, students’ was calculated pre-post scale before after treatment (online tasks) addition semi-structured interviews with experimental group. participating consisted (70) study English Arabic (PAS students) languages. findings demonstrated presence high BZU. Besides, it revealed there statistically significant differences between control groups favor group (higher anxiety). Regarding students, have shown positive task experience. interviewees indicated delivering has made less stressful anxious. Accordingly, some conclusions recommendations suggested.
